Rosemary & Leo
Couple #5

Rosemary: He won my heart when... one day he took me camping up to Gallinas canyon in Northern New Mexico. We were sitting by the fire that he had made. The way he held me to keep me warm made me feel like I was the most precious thing to him. He held me and said “You have no idea how much you mean to me." (As he squeezed me tighter).
Leo: She won my heart when... on one Valentine’s day when she made me a Valentine’s cake. This was one of her first times attempting to bake. She misread the cooking time directions and so the cake was dry and kind of burnt but I did not care. I ate the whole thing with a smile and even though I had to drink a lot of milk with it, I knew then that she would always take care of me no matter what challenges we face. I do have to say though that the cakes are yummy these days.

More About Us
1. In what New Mexico city do you live?
We both live in Albuquerque.
2. How did you meet and how long have you been together?
We met 6 years ago when we were both out with some friends on a Tuesday. We talked and had a great time. At the end of the night we exchanged numbers and I told him to call me on Thursday. All day Wednesday I called some of my other friends to tell them that I had met this real cute nice guy named Luis. I was so excited! On Thursday evening I get a phone call and I rush to answer it. He says,” Hello, do you know who this is?” I was happy that he had called and responded with “Yes of course I do this is Luis!” When he introduced himself it was kind of loud and so I miss heard his name because his name is LEO! He was not upset by it but found it kind of funny and now it’s a funny story we like to tell everyone! From that day on we talked on the phone for hours and had great conversations and about 1 week later he asked me to make our relationship official and I was ecstatic!
3. What do you both do for fun in New Mexico?
We go camping to the state parks and enjoy hiking the many different mountain ranges through out the state. We are LOBO and Isotope fans and attend their sporting events. Staying healthy is one of our priorities and we engage in playing tennis, golf, biking and running.
4. Tell us about your occupations:
Rosemary: My major role is a full time graduate student studying Occupational Therapy, however I also work for the University of New Mexico Hospital as a Rehab Technician. There I provide occupational and physical therapy services to patients. The therapy provided is focused on helping to attain independence and improve the patient’s quality of life. My choice to pursue a career in occupational therapy allows me to fulfill my want help with those whom have encountered debilitating experiences and provide them with my best empathetic knowledgeable care possible.
Leo: My current occupation is in natural stone fabrication and installation. Some of my roles are to communicate, design and deliver beautiful kitchen and bath remodels. Having the ability to transform their home in to a reflection of the home owner’s personality is satisfying. Working with my hands to create something that people can use and enjoy on a daily basis brings me joy and a great sense of accomplishment.
5. What was your most memorable moment together? We would have to say the day we went hiking in northern NM by Hermits peak. When we got there it was starting to rain but we decided to hike anyway. We put on our ponchos and started hiking up the steepest mountain. We thought to ourselves “we can do it, it won’t be that bad…” We didn’t realize it but the mountain was real muddy and slippery so we were practically crawling and sliding all over the mountain. We were full of mud and soaking wet but it was hilarious! We could not stop laughing! We reached an area where we could stand and look over the mountain. The clouds were low, everything was green and beautiful and you could see a faint rainbow, it was so serene. Absolutely the most memorable moment to share that with someone you love.
6. What would you like voters to know about you?
We are best friends and are inseparable. Our families know us as a fun, caring and giving couple. We try our best to be there for others especially in times of need. Every time we have family functions everyone enjoys seeing us dance together because they say with our dance we express our love for each other. We also feel that it is important to base our relationship around our spiritual faith.
7. What do you look forward to the most during your dream honeymoon in Paris?
We can not wait to create more memories that we can share with our children. Being able go to places that people dream of or only see in movies and having the opportunity to learn about a different culture would be a dream come true.
8. Why do you deserve to win the 2010 New Mexico Dream Wedding?
We feel that we all deserve to win because each one of the couples represent love and unity and each has something special to offer. However, we understand that only one lucky couple will win. There is a great deal of planning coordinating, and work that goes into a wedding... although we are up for that challenge, this would be a huge blessing for us to win. We want the opportunity be a role model couple to others and be the couple who represents our community and the beautiful state of New Mexico. We are both ready to take the next step and spend the rest of our lives together. Our marriage plans were on hold because we were waiting for Rosemary's completion of her graduate schooling. This would help us to make our dreams come true of making our wedding day the beginning of a new chapter in a fairy tale story.
