More About Us

1. In what New Mexico City do you live?

John and I were both born and raised in Albuquerque. John graduated from Eldorado High in 1998 and I graduated from Sandia High in 2006. We have so many friends, family, and memories here in Albuquerque. We intend on keeping our traditions going by building the rest of our lives together in this great city.

2. How did you meet and how long have you been together?

John and I met at my work, the Jewish Community Center, almost three years ago. One day I was sitting at my desk when I noticed a gorgeous guy walking by my office door. I immediately hopped out of my seat to see who the cute guy was that caught my eye. I secretly chased him down the hall and when he turned the corner I discovered that he was one of the firefighters that had come to play basketball at the JCC. Everyday after that I hoped that I would run into him again. And sure enough, the day came when that cute firefighter came back to play basketball! I knew I couldn’t let him slip through my fingers again, so I introduced myself… We have been inseparable ever since.

3. What do you do for fun in New Mexico?

John and I absolutely love the outdoor activities that New Mexico has to offer. Any day that we have a chance, you can usually find us hiking our favorite trail in the Sandia Mountains. We also love to camp the good old fashioned way… Nothing but a tent, some sleeping bags, and a big bag of Doritos! We also love going out to eat to enjoy an authentic New Mexican meal. But most of all, we love the time we can spend with our families here in Albuquerque. John and I often go dancing with my dad and the rest of my family at the American Legion. Or, being that John’s family members are big sports fans, we try to catch a basketball or football game to support our New Mexico Lobos as often as we can!

4. Tell us about your occupations:

John works for the Albuquerque Fire Department. He has worked for AFD for about four years now, and he absolutely loves his job. Whether John is fighting a fire or helping someone on an emergency medical call, he proudly serves the citizens of Albuquerque with courage, dedication, and passion. As for myself, I work at the Jewish Community Center. The JCC was my first job, and I loved it so much that six years later, I am still employed there. My first four years of working at the JCC, I worked with elementary aged students within our youth programming. I am now a Member Services representative. I also am a full-time student at UNM. I am majoring in Elementary Education. I will be teaching English as a Second Language and Literature and Grammar to middle-school students. I am so excited to be a teacher and I can hardly wait to get into the classroom!

5. What was your most memorable moment together?

John and I recently went on our first vacation together in Mazatlan. It was a very special experience for us for several reasons. It gave us the chance to finally leave the stresses of our daily lives behind, which allowed us to finally just enjoy each other’s love. We experienced so many new adventures together, met a lot of amazing people, and made lifelong memories with each other. Of course one unforgettable memory in Mazatlan is when John proposed to me on the beach. J Altogether, we truly feel like we fell more in love with each other during this one week in Mexico, which is why Mazatlan will be truly unforgettable for us.

6. What would you like voters to know about you?

First and foremost, we would like everyone to know how thankful we are that we got to participate in the excitement of the 2009 New Mexico Dream Wedding. So far, it has been an opportunity of a lifetime and we will cherish every memory. We are thankful for all the time and effort the sponsors have put into making the Dream Wedding into a reality. John and I are also very thankful to all of our Dream Wedding voters! Without you, none of this would be possible. John and I are very excited for the opportunity to have our friends and family join us in the celebration of our marriage with the wedding of our dreams. We hope that you consider us to represent you as your 2009 New Mexico Dream Couple.

7. What do you look forward to the most during your dream honeymoon in Maui?

Wow, a honeymoon in Maui sounds too good to be true! In the hopes that John and I are chosen as the New Mexico Dream Couple, what we would enjoy most about going to Maui is the fact that we were there with each other. Every experience from splashing in the waves, hiking around the volcanoes, seeing the beautiful waterfalls, or whale watching would all be made special because we got to experience it together. A honeymoon in Maui would be the perfect way to celebrate our love for each other and our covenant of marriage.

8. Why do you deserve to win the 2009 New Mexico Dream Wedding?

John and I have always wished to have a wedding to accommodate all of our family and friends here in New Mexico. Now that the opportunity might actually be here, we feel we deserve to be the 2009 New Mexico Dream Couple because it is New Mexico that has brought us together in the first place. New Mexico is at the root of our past, and it is the essence of our future. New Mexico is our home and we intend on planting our roots even deeper into this unique state for decades to come. John and I would be obliged to represent New Mexico as the 2009 New Mexico Dream Couple.
